Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor best known for portraying Detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue and for which she was awarded an Emmy Award. Also, she has appeared in shows like All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives and CSI: Miami. Delaney was the sole child of an United Auto Workers executive and his wife who was a household worker. She grew up within a household which included four brothers. As a young girl, she wanted to work as a reporter in the courtroom. In highschool her modeling career began when she was able to model for commercials and after moving New York. The role she was given was that of a young innocent in 1981's soap-opera All My Children. Delaney appeared in a number of films, television movies and dramatics since then. Similar to her profession however, her private life has not been a success or happy one. The actress, who is skilled and gorgeous, has struggled with drinking in the past. She has also had marriages that been unsuccessful twice. In 2005 she lost the custody of her only son.
